Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries after a Delta aircraft from Los Angeles to Sydney encountered rough air on Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier stated. Four flight attendants were injured.
Emergency medical services stated they evaluated five individuals, and transported a trio to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that such as back pain and head pain. The injured ranged from their 30s to 70s.
This marks the newest example of planes being hit by turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that climate change is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the representative noted, adding that the plane landed "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday.
Paramedics reported they were alerted just three minutes before the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.
