Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has increased strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a online statement.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from local officials.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
